ARTISTIC JOURNEY
How do you prefer to be identified?
I work professionally under my full name (Oduwole Oluwaseun). I’m
a visual artist and art educator whose practice is rooted in creativity, learning, and
community engagement.
I primarily work with painting and mixed media. My practice also extends to murals
and educational art projects that allow me to connect art with learning and public
spaces.
How did your journey as an artist begin?
My artistic journey began with a natural interest in drawing and making things by
hand. Over time, this curiosity developed through formal training and teaching into a
dedicated artistic practice.
Was there a defining moment that made you take art seriously?
I began to take art seriously when I understood its ability to communicate ideas,
emotions, and cultural stories in powerful and lasting ways.
How would you describe your artistic style?
My style is expressive and narrative-driven, often combining symbolic elements with
influences from everyday life and personal experiences.
What inspires your work the most?
I am inspired by culture, identity, education, personal experiences, and human
interactions within everyday environments.
Can you walk us through your creative process – from concept to finished piece?
My process usually begins with research, observation, or an emotional response. I
develop ideas through sketches and planning before gradually building the final piece.
Are they recurring themes, stories, or messages in your work?
Themes of identity, growth, learning, memory, and community frequently appear in
my work.

projects that integrate art education and community engagement.
What piece or achievement are you most proud of so far, and why?
I am most proud of projects where my art has created opportunities for learning,
reflection, and meaningful connection with others.
CHALLENGES AND GROWTH
What challenges have you faced as an artist?
One of my main challenges has been balancing creative practice with teaching
responsibilities and limited resources.
How do you stay motivated or overcome creative blocks?
I overcome creative blocks by taking breaks, observing my surroundings, and
allowing ideas to develop naturally through reflection.
One piece of advice for emerging artists
Remain patient with your growth, stay consistent, and continue learning from both
practice and experience.
COMMUNITY AND IMPACT
What do you hope people feel or take away when they experience your work?
I hope viewers feel inspired, understood, and encouraged to reflect on their own
experiences.

Art has the power to educate, preserve culture, spark conversations, and influence
positive social change.
